XCell-Center inaugurates second institute for stem cell transplantation in Düsseldorf

января 20, 2009

The XCell-Center has inaugurated its newest institute for stem cell transplantation and therapy within the premises of the Dominikus hospital in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Dominikus hospital (Dominikus-Krankenhaus Düsseldorf-Heerd GmbH) is a facility of the Cherubine-William-foundation and has been founded in 1892. The new flagship clinic of the XCell-Center spreads across 2000 square meters and will expand its treatment options and allow more medical specialists to pursue the therapies with adult autologous stem cells.

Just like the first XCell-Center in Cologne, which opened its doors in early 2007, the new clinic in Düsseldorf will provide access to the highest technological as well as medical standards available. Experienced specialists in the fields cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics, diabetology and ophtalmology can position stem cells with optical view pin point up to the affected organ. A most up to date angiography unit for instance enables placement of a catheter and thus of the stem cell compoundinto the area of the  heart, pancreas as well as into the the kidney and bladder. The newest 3 Tesla MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) quickly and comfortably delivers anatomical sectional images, total body scans or functional images of the highest quality. Precise images of the central nervous system or the vertebral spine can be obtained. A thorough diagnostic approach is particularly essential for a further therapeutical approach regarding neurological diseases such as Parinsons disease, ALS (Amyotrhophic Lateral Sclerosis = Lou Gehrig´s disease), MS (Multiple Sclerosis), Alzheimer, stroke, cerebral palsy or spinal cord injuries. In the field cardiology precise images of a diseased heart can be produced which display even the smallest coronary scar tissue or circulatory disorders of the heart vessels. Degenerative diseases of the supportive connecting tissue can be displayed and treated with stem cells by means of interventional therapy. An initial stage Morbus Bechterew can be treated by implantation of stem cells into the ilio sacral joints.  Degenerative diseases of  the shoulder, hip, knee or the ankle can be treated by intraarticular joint injections of adult stem cells.

Managing director Dr. C. Kleinbloesem: The worldwide positive response to our stem cell therapies drives us to expansion. Our first institute in Cologne was only inaugurated in January of 2007 and is already used to capacity. We want to be able to reply to all patient requests in the foreseeable future with the same care and attention. With the Dominikus hospital - located in one of Germanys economical and cultural centers - we have discovered an ideal setting with an optimal international connection. I am very positive that we will continue to write the track record of autologous stem cell therapy in this new, supreme medical center. The demand for this therapy is overwhelming.”
